The other morning I received a telephone call from Eileen Wilkes, owner of CH Gardenway Celtic Breeze, or "Bree" as she was known, to tell me that Bree had crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday, September 15th, 2011.  Bree who had turned 14 in August, was dam to my beloved Nova (CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation Can/Am CD FDJ, JH, Am/Can RA, Am RE, Am RAE, CGN, and the maternal grandmother to 18 of Nova's kids from two litters, including my Miska as well as great-grandmother to 12 of Miska's puppies (Miska-Ozzie litter born June 2008 and Miska-Brick litter born May 2011) and 11 puppies out of Shandy, another of Nova's kids. 

Fortunately I had the opportunity to see Bree a very short time agao - at the end of July when I visited Eileen at her cottage.  Eileen knew I always delighted in seeing Bree. who was such a sweet and loving Vizsla.

RIP Bree and I hope you gave Nova a big kiss from me when you crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

Great-grandma Bree

Our Miska-Brick puppies visited their maternal great grandmother, Bree (CH Gardenway Celtic Breeze) who will be turning 14 on August 27!  A very happy birthday to you Bree!!!

They were more thrilled to see her than she was to see them but Bree cooperated for a photo with 3 of the pups.  The last time I visited Bree at the cottage was when I took her other great-grandpup, Diva, born 2008 to see her and I took a picture of them together.

Ruby1 Reunion!

Not since I put little Ruby1 (so called #1 because another owner of one of our puppies named their Vizsla Ruby so to distinguish them, I refer to them as Ruby1, born June 26, 2003 and Ruby2, born June 17, 2006) on an airplane to her new home in British Columbia almost 7.5 years ago, had I seen her. BTW, her registered name is Varazs Kiralyi Rubicund. So I was delighted to receive an email from Ruby1's owner to say they had moved to Toronto which is a heck of a lot closer to me than Vancouver, BC!  So a reunion was in the works. We also got together with Ruby's grandmother, Bree owned by Eileen Wilkes, her sister Miska and brother Vadasz as well as a niece (Diva) and nephew (Quest) as well as 2 more of Eileen's dogs.  We had lovely weather in late November so the walk was very pleasant.  It was lovely to see Ruby again and I must say, she looked incredibly young!! Barely or no white hairs on her face, unlike her sister Miska & brother Vadasz.

From the paws of our Diva . . .

I went to the cottage of my hu-mom's friend last night and got to visit my great-grandma Bree again. She's 12 years old this month. When I last had my photo taken with her, I was only 6 weeks old and now I'm 14 months old! Here I am with great grandma, Bree.

I went swimming in Muskoka Lake and showed my hu-mom that I could swim a lot faster than she could. She kept swimming away from me but I didn't want her to go very far so I dog paddled out to save her. She laughed and laughed even though I splashed her a lot.




I also had fun playing with some puppies but they wanted to nurse me for some reason 'xcept my fountains don't work yet.









And I got to meet Simba the cat. Hu-mom said I was a very good dog because I didn't chase Simba. I had an awesome time! Thanks hu-mom for taking me to see great grandma & the puppies and thank you Eileen for letting me stay at your cottage.

Miska-Ozzie litter turns 1

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY to Andras, Blaze, Diva, Gunner, Piper and Quest.

June is a big birthday month for our litters. Our Miska-Ozzie puppies, born June 16, 2008, turn one year old today. (Miska = Am/Can CH Varazs Kiralyi Kedvesem FDJ, FD, NAVHDA NA Prize III, JH, Am/Can CD, Am/Can RN, Am/Can RA, Am RE, CGN and Ozzie = CH Hubertus Quality Control FDJ).

Andras has earned 4 majors in the US and is 2 pts short of earning his American Champion title. Diva has earned 3 AKC Jr. Hunter legs and 2 CKC Field Dog Jr. legs towards 2 hunting titles. Gunner, Piper and Quest have all earned CKC championship points. All before the age of 12 months. Thank you Miska and Ozzie for producing such talented and beautiful puppies.

VSO Booster show, Dec. 6, 2008

On December 6, 2008 I went to watch the Vizsla Society of Ontario's Vizsla Booster (supported entry) show. I was particularly curious to see the entries and what the judge would pick. The judge was Carmen Haller, a former Vizsla owner/handler whose dog, CH Vizsta's Royal Pacesetter
set many records in Canada in the late 1980's and early 1990's.

Entered were 2 puppies, Reese and Dexter, that are half-brothers to my Miska-Ozzie litter, Ozzie (CH Hubertus Quality Control) an import from Australia being the sire of these puppies that were born 10 days before Miska's litter. Reese and Dexter just turned 6 months old and this was their first show; they were in the 6 to 9 month class. Carmen picked Reese as the winner of this class and then she picked him as her Winners' Dog and also Best of Opposite Sex over a male Special for 3 points! A very nice win for this young puppy at his very first show.

For her Best of Breed and Group 4th, Carmen picked CH Gardenway Lienroc Beatrice an English import whose sire is Hungargunn Bear Itn Mind (Yogi), a very famous Vizsla in Australia and England. Carmen appeared to like the bone and substance of her BOB and WD/BOS.

And I was also delighted to see 11-year old CH Gardenway Celtic Breeze entered as a Veteran. Bree is the mother of my Nova and grandmother to my Miska and great-grand dam to our June 2008 litter. She was handled by Jr Handler, Erin Wilkes, Eileen Wilke's daughter.
