Family visits

I love seeing our puppies/our dogs' relatives.

In September, Miska's son, Charlie and daughter, Elsie from our 2011 litter between Brick and Miska were here for dog shows. After Charlie and Elsie left to go back to their respective homes, I was exhausted!!

Elsie - perfect angel! (Not!)

Then Quest from Miska's 2008 litter arrived for me to take him down to the States for dog shows at the Wine Circuit in Romulus, NY.  He's pictured here with his sister Diva, mom Miska and uncle Tyro.  He took two third places in the Open Dog class, was 2nd one day and went Reserve Winners Dog but didn't bring home any points, unfortunately.

While I was at the shows in Romulus, I stayed with my friend Pauline who owns Katya from our 2003 litter. Katya is a littermate to my Miska so it was nice to see her again after a two year absence.  The sisters get along very well.  As they age (gracefully), they are beginning to look more similar in their faces.

Two sisters - Katya and Miska taken Sept. 30/12

Then I got together with Gary who owns Vadasz, another littermate from our 2003 litter.  He's a brother to Katya and Miska and is shown below.  He is such a wonderful male dog and is so well tempered around other dogs and people, and of course, is very talented also.  It's a bit pity that no one has been interested in using him for stud.  He is still intact.

Happy 9th Birthday!!

HAPPY 9TH BIRTHDAY!!

10 puppies born June 26, 2003 sired by our Sasha and whelped by our Nova

Celebrating her 9th birthday today is my darling Miska (pronounced MiSHka), aka Mishky-Mishky, Miska-Monkers, along with her 9 littermates: Amber, Hudson, Katya, Noble, Rachel, Ruby, Shandy, Vadasz and Zsofi.  They were sired by my beloved Sasha and whelped by my playful and fun-loving Nova on June 26, 2003.

More new titles

Earlier this year, two Vizslas that I bred earned new titles.  Miska's sister, Katya (DOB June 26/03) and her owner Pauline, earned Katya's Beginner Novice (BN) obedience title on January 7, 2012.  This is a new AKC title.  Congratulations!

And Miska's son, Bodi (DOB May 31, 2011) and his owner Corrine earned their CKC Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) title on January 14, 2012 at the tender age of 6 7 months and 2 days!  And Bodi has also been doing very well in the show ring, having racked up 4 points to date!!  I'm very proud of our dogs and grateful to the owners for providing their Vizslas with very stimulating environments.

And my 3 Vizslas,  Miska, Tyro and Diva each earned their AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) titles on February 18, 2012 in Phoenix AZ.  And the same day, Miska also earned her Therapy Dog International (TDI) title.

Cassini NASA Saturn Project

Woo-hoo!! Katya,, a.k.a. Ch (Cdn & UKC) Varazs Sziv Jump For Joy RN, RA, RE, CGC CGN from our 2003 litter and her owner, Pauline Helfenstein are in the NASA Saturn book as Cassini team members.

Katya "helps" Pauline on the space project.

"Cassini-Huygens is one of the most ambitious missions ever launched into space. Loaded with an array of powerful instruments and cameras, the spacecraft is capable of taking accurate measurements and detailed images in a variety of atmospheric conditions and light spectra.

Two elements comprise the spacecraft: The Cassini orbiter and the Huygens probe. In 2004, Cassini-Huygens reached Saturn and its moons. There the spacecraft began orbiting the system in July 2004, beaming home valuable data that will help us understand the vast Saturnian region. Huygens entered the murky atmosphere of Titan, Saturn's biggest moon, and descended via parachute onto its surface." Scenes from Wine Circuit

Here are some photos taken while I was at the Wine Circuit shows (Sept 30 - Oct. 3) at Romulus, NY and while staying with Pauline, a friend/owner of Katya, one of my Vizslas who lives in Ithaca, NY. Katya is Cdn CH Varazs Sziv Jump for Joy, Am RE.

Lucky 7 for 10!

Happy 7th Birthday to the 10 puppies from our 2003 litter born June 26, 2003.

Here's to Amber, Hudson, Katya, Miska, Noble, Rachel, Ruby1, Shandy, Vadasz and Zsofi who turn 7 years old today. Barks & wags to all of you! The wonderful parents of this litter were our treasured Sasha (BPG Am/Can CH Varazs Kiraly Sassy Sasha Am/Can CD, Am/Can CDX, FDJ, RN, RA, RE, RAE, TT, CGC, CGN) and our beloved Nova (CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation Can/Am CD FDJ, JH, Am/Can RA, Am RE, Am RAE, CGN).

Last Sunday, all 3 Birthday dogs in our house celebrated their birthdays with a long walk in the woods with Gunner, Miska's son. He couldn't stay for cake but enjoyed the outing before his 'tutoring' surgery the following day. Diva and Miska wore bling & Tyro sported his finest tie for the cake. Here's a photo of the doggie cake (melting in the blazing sun).  That's supposed to be a heart on top. :-)

Today, Miska will celebrate her big day by attending the Vizsla Fun Day sponsored by the Vizsla Society of Ontario.  I don't know how much fun she'll have since major rain is in the  forecast.

On Vancouver Island, Shandy will also celebrating with a big cake and a pool party.  Here she is, salivating over her cake.
