Eight for Eight!

Varazs Vizslas has 3 birthdays in June!  Yesterday, one litter turned six and today, the eight puppies from our 2006 litter turn 8! 
Hence, 8 for 8!

Happy 8th Birthday to our 2006 litter born June 17th.  The 8 puppies turning 8 are:  Lucy 1, Lucy 2, Nika, Ruby1, Lloyd, Tessie, Tucker and our Tyro . They are out of Am/Can/Int'l Ch Kizmar Touch of Evil CD RE JH (Hudson)  and our  Nova (CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation Can/Am CD, FDJ, JH, Can/Am RA, Am RE, Am RAE, CGN.)  Many people mistake Tyro for a puppy because of his high energy and youthful appearance!! He doesn't have much grey hair except for a bit under his chin.

Back to back birthdays

We have two litters with back-to-back birthdays this month.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

On June 16th, we celebrate the fourth birthday of our Miska-Ozzie litter - 2 girls and 4 boys born June 16, 2008.  They include: Diva, Piper, Andras, Blaze, Gunner and Quest. 

On June 17 2006, our litter of 8 puppies was born to our beloved Nova and sired by Ch. Kizmar Touch of Evil (Hudson).  They turn six today.  Here's a photo of the puppies at 43 days of age.  The pups are: Nika, Lucy 1 and Lucy 2, Ruby, Lloyd, Tessie, Tucker and Tyro.

 

Puppies turn 4!

Happy 4th Birthday to Lloyd, Lucy 1, Lucy 2, Nika, Ruby, Tessie, Tucker (formerly Chili) and Tyro from our Hudson-Nova litter born June 17, 2006. 

Nova was bred to Am/Can CH Kizmar Touch of Evil JH RN ("Hudson). This was our Nova's second and final litter. There were 8 puppies in this litter, 4 girls and 4 boys. I'm happy all the puppies from that litter are celebrating a birthday. Woo-hoo!!!

Tyro visits Tessie

Since I was in New York state for a hunt test on Sunday June 13 (nothing positive to report about that!), I was only about an hour's drive away from where Tessie (CH Varazs Nyar The Contessa) lives. Tessie is a littermate to our Tyro. I hadn't seen Tessie and her humans for about 2 years so it was wonderful to see everyone and especially wonderful to be able to give Tessie some early birthday kisses & hugs.

Nova-Hudson litter celebrates 3 yrs

As I wrote earlier, June is a big birthday month in our household (with more still to come). Today we celebrate the 3rd birthday of our Nova-Hudson litter consisting of 8 Vizsla puppies born June 17, 2006. Nova = CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation Can/Am CD FDJ, JH, Am/Can RA, Am RE, CGN and Hudson = Am/Can/Int CH Kizmar Touch of Evil JH CD RA Evil. This was Nova's second and last litter. Sadly, she is no longer with us. We kept one male puppy, named Tyro, from this breeding and he is a joy to live with. He just has a wonderful, fun-loving, gentle and loving personality - just like his mom Nova. Seven out of the 8 puppies earned their Cdn Championship titles. Tyro has completed his AKC Rally Novice title and has 1 leg towards his CKC rally novice. Tucker earned his FDJ and has 1 Rally Novice leg while living with his breeder.

Reunion with Piper at Erin Fall Fair

Last Sunday I took Diva and Quest to the Erin Fall Fair in Erin, Ontario northwest of Toronto to meet up with Piper and her family. I hadn't seen Piper since she left for her new home at 8 weeks of age.

Lauren and Rae-Brynn were showing their cows again at the fall fair so Piper also came along with the family. It was a beautifully sunny and HOT autumn day so I tried to arrive mid-morning when it wasn't too crowded or hot at the fair. I tethered the 2 puppies together and wandered around the fair grounds, taking them past the rides, ponies (I forgot about the horse poop! Very tasty for dogs!), cows and vendors. Nothing bothered them at all. Then we met up with Piper's family by the cow barn.

Rae Brynn was inside the barn showing her cow. Unfortunately, her cow gave her a very hard time for some reason - it was a full moooooooon (ha! - I couldn't resist that one) and maybe that was why her cow was very ornery. I'm sure my puppies didn't spook her cow but I learned that dogs weren't allowed in the cow barn for that reason. Lauren also had problems controlling her cow earlier in the morning. After watching the cow handling, I am totally convinced that showing cows is so much harder than showing a dog, even when a dog won't behave. After all, there is about a 1000 - 2000 lb. difference between species! And I couldn't see any treats in Rae-Brynn's hand so how do you control a big beast with just a little stick? It's very challenging!

Right now, Piper's face and head remind me a lot of Tessie, her older half-sister who resembles Nova (Tessie's grandmother/Piper's grandmother). Piper is just a tad smaller than Quest and Diva but not by much. She's very pretty and very sweet but apparently, quite a chewer.

We had no end of people coming up to say hello and wanting to pet the puppies. And, just about everyone commented on how absolutely beautiful they are! Yes! We were rooted in that spot for almost an hour and couldn't move because someone else would come up to see the puppies. What a great place to socialize puppies! Needlessto say, Diva and Quest were quite worn out when we got home.

The next day, (Monday October 13), Lauren won top honor of "Top Showman" with her grandfather and great-uncle (reknown for their beef cattle) looking on. So WAY TO GO LAUREN! That's AWESOME!
