Amber joins Bartok over the Rainbow Bridge

BPG * CH Varazs On Point at Blackbullet
"Amber"
February 2, 1998 - April 20, 2012

Sadly, just two days after her brother Bartok crossed the Rainbow Bridge, his sister Amber followed in his pawsteps to join him.  Amber died peacefully and asleep in the arms of her beloved owner, Sherryanne Farr.  Amber and Bartok were the last puppies out of a litter of four born in 1998 to my foundation bitch, Am/Can CH Maritza of Kezdet Nekah Am/Can CD CGC Nekah.  With Amber's passing, all of Nekah's puppies and that generation are now gone.

Amber was a Best Puppy in Group and also had 2 Group placements in conformation during her show career in Alberta, Canada. Amber was the foundation Vizsla bitch for Blackbullet Vizslas (Sherryanne Farr and Wes Daniels) in Alberta.  She was bred three times but only one mating was successful - the one done at her home in 2004 with her humans close by rather than when she was sent away for breeding.  That's often the case.  Her kids are:

Amy - Blackbullet Amethyst of Vegso
Chester - Blackbullet Il Mio Amore Varaz
Cooper  - BPG CH Blackbullets Heart of Varazs
Jewel - CH Blackbullet Varazs Legacy NAVHDA NA Prize II
Maggie - Blackbullet St. Mags of Varazs
Nando - Blackbullet Varazs Braveheart
Rufus - CH Blackbullet Varazs Grof Rufus

Amber's spirit and beauty live on through her seven puppies and many grandkids through her daughter, CH Blackbullet Varazs Legacy NAVHDA NA Pz II, "Jewel".  Amber will be greatly missed by Sherryanne and Wes and leaves a big hole in their hearts. And I share their grief.

Happy 14th Birthday to Amber (CH Varazs On Point at Blackbullet) and Bartok (Varazs Bartok Bluebeardscastle), the two remaining puppies from our 1998 litter born 14 years ago today, Feb. 2 (Groundhog Day).  This was the last litter out of our beloved Nekah (Am/Can CH Maritza of Kezdet Nekah Am/Can CD CGC).

Happy 13th Birthday!

LUCKY 13!

Bartok in 1998
Today I salute Amber (Ch Varazs On Point at Blackbullet) and Bartok (Varazs Bartok Bluebeardscastle), the 2 remaining littermates out of 4 from our 1998 breeding. This was the fourth and last breeding we did with our beloved Nekah (Am/Can CH Maritza of Kezdet Nekah Am/Can CD, CGC).  Amber and Bartok celebrate 13 years today - February 2.  Sadly, their brother Otis died last fall, just short of turning 13.  A big thanks to their owners for loving these dogs and taking such wonderful care of them! Big hugs and kisses and birthday wishes from your breeder-mom.

Groundhog Day litter turns 12!

I've never referred to the birth of our 4th litter as the Groundhog Day litter before now but it did happen that day, 12 years ago! Four puppies were born February 2, 1998 to our "Nekah" (Am/Can CH Maritza of Kezdet Nekah CD CGC), sired by "Rowdy" (Am CH Legacy's Rhythm N Blues). It was Nekah's last litter. Of those 4 puppies, three have outlived both parents and reached the age of 12 years today: Amber ( BPG CH Varazs On Point at Blackbullet), Bartok (Varazs Bartok Bluebeardscastle), and Otis (Varazs Betyar Otis).

Happy 12th Birthday!!

6 years old!

Our biggest and best litter has turned 6 years old today. Happy Birthday to: Amber, Hudson, Katya, Miska, Noble, Rachel, Ruby, Shandy, Vadasz and Zsofi. This was a wonderful litter as exemplified by their looks, temperament, intelligence and accomplishments. I absolutely adored the parents: my Sasha (BPIG Am/Can CH Varazs Kiraly Sassy Sasha Am/Can CD, Am/Can CDX, FDJ, RN, RA, RE, RAE, TT, CGC, CGN) was the dad and my Nova (CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation Can/Am CD FDJ, JH, Am/Can RA, Am RE, CGN)was the mom - both phenomenal Vizslas.

The unexpected and untimely death of Nova, their mother, at age 10 just speaks for the need to cherish and treasure every day with your dogs. Sasha lived into this 16th year, and I hope his longevity genes have been passed on to all of his kids. I know they have certainly inherited the good looks and lovely personalities of both parents and for that, I am so grateful.

So kids! Live it up, have a blast, go for a long walk with your humans, have some special treats but above all, be loved every day.

Much love from your breeder mom, Sylvia.

1998 litter turns 11, Feb 2.

It's called "Groundhog" day in Canada today (Feb. 2) and our small litter born February 2, 1998 also turned 11 years young! Happy Birthday puppies!! Everyday birthday past 10 is a blessing for most dogs and we are celebrating their achievement. And Groundhog day is the day that this stupid rodent is supposed to emerge from its burrow in the ground. If he sees his shadow, he predicts another 6 weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, spring will arrive earlier. Well, in Ontario Canada where I live, it almost always another 6 to 7 weeks of winter no matter what. So much for its ability to signal the end of winter.

Anyway, back to our Vizsla puppies born on Groundhog Day, Feb. 2, 1998. The parents were Am CH Legacy's Rhythm N Blues ("Rowdy") and Am/Can CH Maritza of Kezdet Nekah CD CGC ("Nekah") whom I miss dearly still. This was Nekah's 4th and last litter. Here are photos of two of the dogs from that litter, Bartok and Amber. Amber celebrated with pizza (her favourite food) and Bartok had a nice walk with his dad, Oliver. May you celebrate many more B-Days.

Here's Amber.

Below is
Bartok.

Bartok's family will soon be moving from British Columbia to Calgary, Alberta where he will be closer to his sister Amber. Bartok also has 2 other relatives in Alberta, Polo (a 3rd cousin I figure) and Blaze, a great-grand nephew. Kinda hard to figure out these doggie relationships at times but they are related through our
Nekah and her son, Sasha. I have to stop and try to figure it all out and I'm the breeder!

Lots of love from breeder mom.

Kaiser takes Best of Breed!

On December 12 and 13, I had the priviledge of showing Blackbullet Jumpn Crackerjack aka "Kaiser", bred by Sherryanne Farr and Wes Daniels of Alberta Canada, at the Orangeville dog show in Ontario, Canada. Kaiser is actually 'family' to my dogs. His dad is Am/Can/Int'l CH Kizmar Touch of Evil JH, RA "Hudson" who sired our 2006 litter with CH Ferngold Varazs Innovation etc. "Nova". But Kaiser is also closely related to our dogs on his mom's side as he is a son of CH Blackbullet Varazs Legacy NAVHDA NA "Jewel" who is a daughter of CH Varazs On Point At Blackbullet "Amber", whom I sent to Sherryanne almost 11 years ago to become her foundation Vizsla bitch.

Kaiser's lovely family recently moved from Alberta to Ottawa, Ontario. Sherryanne asked if I would handle him as he still needs several points to finish his Cdn championship. I agreed and finally had the opportunity to meet Kaiser and his owner, Carey in December. Carey had done a fabulous job training him for the show ring so he was a delight to handle and he also has a fabulous temperament, just like his half-brother, Tyro, who is one of my dogs sired by CH Kizmar Touch of Evil JH, RA "Hudson".

There was only 1 other Vizsla entered on Saturday and Sunday and it was a champion. For Kaiser to pick up a point, he had to beat this Champion and take Best of Breed. Fortunately, that's what happened both days and so we added 2 more points to his tally. I think Kaiser is up to 5 points now. Next spring/summer, Carey and her husband will make the trek south from Ottawa for more dog shows and hopefully, we'll finish his championship.
